The vast majority of our wood flooring has undergone some degree of hand finishing ensuring a consistent high quality and performance wood floor. This hand finishing gives each of our floors a ‘bespoke’ feel and will be unique in terms of grain and colour.
SURFACE COATING / SEALER
All of our oak floors are treated with the specifically designed Extreme Matt Oil or Bona Natural Sealer.
Using German technology from Klumpp Coatings in Stuttgart, both the Extreme Matt Oil and Bona Natural Sealer, as long as the floor is kept clean during installation and undergoes regular basic domestic cleaning, will require no further applications throughout the floor’s life.
Extreme Matt Oil (EMO) and Bona Natural Sealer can be cleaned and refreshed using most products designed for conventionally oiled/ lacquered floors. In some circumstances, the floors can even be re-oiled over completely.
A selection of our timber flooring is specially finished with Bona Natural Sealer, a UV cured urethane-based topcoat that was designed for our flooring to simulate a low sheen oiled floor. It offers the warm feeling and texture of a natural oiled timber floor and also provides a more durable and better wear protection than a conventionally oiled floor.
Our woods are not pigmented stains, where the colour sits on the surface of the wood. Instead, our factory is leading the development of ‘reactive stains’ that make use of the naturally occurring tannins within the oak to create floors that have depth and character with a naturally occurring colour variation, whilst maintaining a predefined colour tone.
